Introductory Course £50 (Beginners) -
part II material before and after
A.M.:History, styles, suitable varieties, general care and maintenance styling techniques and a demonstration. Students will be provided with materials to make and take home a bonsai.

P.M.: Leading on from the morning class this progresses further to cover wiring, styling and the use of bonsai tools. Tree, pot and materials provided.

Design and Styling £20 (All levels) - A chance for help and guidance to design, create or refine bonsai from nursery stock or collected trees. Fee is for tuition only, plant material may be purchased or, more usually, you can bring your their own.

Dwarf Scots Pine £90 (Intermediate) – A good selection from a few cultivars of dwarf scots pine with compact growth habit and short needles, difficult to find material that will make nice bonsai. Email for photos, or call into the nursery to see them.

Golden Plumosa Chinese Juniper £55 (All Levels) – Golden Chinese Juniper, colourful, upright habit, a good unusual addition to a collection, easy to work with, an ideal follow on from introductory course.

Group / Slab planting £45 (All levels) - Study of live examples, talk/demonstration and practical work. Container, trees and all materials provided with facility to purchase additional trees or handmade slab if desired.

Large Juniper Masterclass £325 (Advanced) – We have sourced a very limited number of very old junipers for this course, places are limited to 2 students only, trees are here for you to view, or email us for photos. These are large trees to work on and we shall concentrate on getting initial design, styling and main wiring done during the day long course. Trees will be best potted at a later date, so pots are not included in price. Corin has previously worked on one of these for a client – and we have “before” and “after” photos here for you to see the outcome.

Hinoki Cypress £45 (All levels) – A popular favourite, lovely selection of Hinoki Cypress, several sizes available if you wish to upgrade. Wonderful dark green foliage, easy to work with and very rewarding plant to grow. Field grown, you will select and pot in to bonsai pot during the class

Large Boulevard Cypress £60 (Intermediate) – It is rare to find such large specimens of this cypress for bonsai training. They have trunks over 1 “ diameter, nice aged flaky bark, very flexible and easy to work with. Beautiful blue colour year round. There is an example here at the nursery for you to come and have a look at. Due to the size of the tree, bonsai pot will be an extra cost if needed.

Old Gold Juniper Cascade £45* (All levels) – Good selection of Juniperus “Old Gold” golden juniper suitable for cascade style bonsai. Demonstration and lecture on cascades followed by practical work – cascade bonsai pot included.

English Yew £60 (Intermediate) – One of the few Native British conifers with a fascinating history. Lecture, demonstration and practical work will result in each student leaving with a bonsai Yew made by You!

Studio Study Days £20 (All levels) – New for Autumn 2007, a series of studio study days. Held on Thursdays, for advice / help / guidance / tuition. Studio is open from 10-4 and Corin will be available throughout the day. Phone to book a space – just come along anytime with anything you need help with.

NOTE: Apart from the Design and Styling and Ugly Duckling classes all prices include necessary materials (Trees, compost, etc.). Students are requested to bring their own bonsai tools if possible although tools, turntables, etc. are available on loan.
